The church council is the highest assembly of the Sutlej Reformed Church of Pakistan.
The congregations have been organized into “Sessions” and all the representatives from all the sessions collectively form the council.
Every Presbyterian church is governed by a representative democracy.
A session (from the Latin word sessio, which means “to sit”, as in sitting to deliberate or talk about something; sometimes called consistory or church board) is a body of elected elders governing each local church within Presbyterian polity.
The Moderator General is;
- the minister (teaching elder) chosen to moderate (chair) the church council
- responsible for calling and presiding over the regular meetings of the council.
- elected by the Church Council and serves for five years as the public representative of the denomination.
Church ministers are styled The Reverend.
The serving moderator is styled The Right Reverend during his years of service and The Very Reverend afterwards.
